Bethesda Softworks has released the first trailer teasing the upcoming MMORPG based on the Elder Scrolls franchise. It’s the typical sort of teaser trailer, no gameplay footage and very little information on anything except for tone and a little bit of information about the story.
The Elder Scrolls Online will allow players to quest across the entire continent of Tamriel 1000 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which includes the provinces of Cyrodiil, where The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was set, and Skyrim, setting of The Elder Scrolls V. All of Tamriel is in unrest due to the lack of a ruler and Races from several provinces of Tamriel have formed alliances to defend their land and expand their territory.

Does this make sense?: Sure does. At least for Bethesda, who are most likely looking to expand the franchise’s audience by engaging MMO fans. For single player RPG fans, I doubt they’re that excited.
